Christmas Fair

The annual Christchurch Christmas Fair takes place at Christchurch this coming Saturday, 22nd November between 10.00 a.m. and 2.00 p.m.  We look forward very much to seeing you on that day; why not bring a friend or neighbour?  Don’t forget there are always excellent bacon baps on sale!!

It would be appreciated for a few more offers of help on the various stalls and, if possible, some homemade cakes for refreshments.  If you have any cakes and / or items that can be sold on any of the stalls (Christmas gifts, books, bric-a-brac, toys, etc), please bring them to Church on Friday after 2.00 p.m.  Please contact Alison for further information.

Church Diary 2026
The CHURCH DIARY FOR 2026 is now available in the office.  If you are planning any regular or occasional events for the new year, please enter the dates and times you would like in the new diary and inform Peter, our bookings officer.

Hurricane Melissa
We recently had a collection in Church for those affected by the HURRICANE MELISSA APPEAL, specifically to help the Parish of St Ann in Jamaica, with which the City of Gloucester is twinned.  The hurricane which swept across the island has left many communities isolated without shelter, food, drinking water, electricity or health facilities.
If you did not have the opportunity to donate last week and would like to do so, donations in cash or cheque can be given to Howard or Carole at Churchchurch, paid via our Church bank card machine (enter charitable giving), or sent to: The St Ann Society of Gloucester, The Sinope Business Centre, 1 Sinope Street, Gloucester, GL1 4AW.  Please make cheques payable to ‘The St Ann Society of Gloucester’ and write ‘Hurricane Melissa Appeal’ on the back of the cheque.
Thank you.

Preaching and Domestic Abuse

Christchurch is hosting an evening entitled ‘PREACHING AND DOMESTIC ABUSE’ on Wednesday 26th November (7.30 p.m.).  It will be led by Susanna Webb, a PhD student and part of the Cathedral worshipping community; she will present her research into how UK church ministers approach the subject of domestic violence (or not) from the pulpit and what we can all learn from her findings.   For more information and to book your space, visit: www.preachingthatprotects.co.uk

Harvest Festival (UPDATE)
On Sunday 5th October we celebrated our Harvest Festival and Gift Day. All donated food items were delivered to the Gloucester Foodbank and a total of 93.45 kg of food was given to them by Christchurch Abbeydale. The Gloucester Foodbank has been operating since 2005, and over just the last five years it has seen the number of food parcels it provides doubling to more than 17,000.  The new manager of the Foodbank has said that she is surprised at the very high level of demand that now exists for its help.

An Award For Chronicle
On Sept 20, Lesley, our Chronicle editor, attended the AGM of the Association for Church Editors where she was awarded a Certificate of Excellence for her work on the Christchurch Monthly Magazine which we call the Chronicle. Well done Lesley. It is nice to know that all your hard work is appreciated and has been recognised.

Card Machine
Do you often find yourself without cash when in Church?  We have now set up the card machine to accept small donations for Sunday coffee and biscuits.  As the cost of coffee in particular has increased significantly of late, we encourage those who tend not to carry cash to make use of this facility as often as possible.  Thank you.
