Prayer Life

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Jesus Christ.
(1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18)

Before Prayer changes others, it first changes us.
(Billy Graham)

This week we are giving thanks for the life and work of Christchurch as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the foundation of the Church in the Community Centre and reflect on 30 years of worship in our present building.   We pray that those who visit our Open Day will be moved by the displays which show our fellowship faith in action.

We also pray that more and more people will come to know Jesus at this time between Ascension and Pentecost, during which the global Church joins in ecumenical prayer with the plea ‘Thy Kingdom Come’.

We continue to pray for all families living in Abbeydale and Abbeymead, especially those in Jasmine Close, Jaythorpe and Kinmoor.

It is ‘Open Farm Sunday’ on 8 June when Christians are asked to remember farmers. The following prayer from the Arthur Rank Centre (ARC) charity which contemplates where our food comes from and then celebrates the work of the farmer who produce it.

Lord, I thank you for those who produce the food that I eat, for their commitment and effort, their knowledge, their skills. And forgive me, I pray, that I take them for granted, forget what they do and ignore what I owe.
May I value their work and all it produces. May I give them the respect and the appreciation they deserve. And may I give You the glory, as Creator, Provider, the giver of all that I now thank You for.

Amen
